Moto3 GP Japan Motegi Qualifying – The pole position of the Moto3 class Japanese Grand Prix (sixteenth stage of the 2019 MotoGP) went to Niccolò Antonelli.

The session held on wet asphalt and resulting in rain tires saw the SIC58 Squadra Corse Team driver achieve the best lap with a time of 2:09.293. Alonso Lopez (Honda Estrella Galicia 0,0) and Antonelli's team-mate, Tatsuki Suzuki, will start on the front row with him.

For Antonelli, who had to take part in Q1 and was returning from an injury, this is the third pole of the season, the eighth of his career. Second row for Makar Yurchenko (KTM BOE), Sergio Garcia (Honda Estrella Galicia 0,0) and world championship leader Lorenzo Dalla Porta (Honda Leopard), sixth time for the Tuscan rider.

Jakub Kornfeil (KTM PruestelGP) will open the third row where we also find Dalla Porta's closest pursuer, the Max Racing Team rider Aron Canet (KTM) and Celestino Vietti (Sky Racing Team VR46).

Fourth row for Gabriel Rodrigo (Honda Gresini), John McPhee (Honda Petronas) and Marcos Ramirez (Honda Leopard).

Andrea Migno achieved the fifteenth fastest time on the fifth row, while Tony Arbolino and Dennis Foggia after failing to get through Q1 will start from the fourth to last and final position. A hard blow especially for Arbolino, third in the world rankings.
