Toni Elias was the fastest on the first day of Moto2 testing in Valencia. For the first time the drivers took to the track with the official engine, the Honda one, a company that was chosen as the sole engine supplier and the driver from Manresa managed to get down to a time of 1'37"530 when the record in Debon's race with the 250cc was 1'36"116. The Team Gresini Moto2 rider who was absent in Barcelona immediately made it clear that he was one of the favourites. Behind him was his compatriot Julian Simon (in the Crash.net photo). The driver of the Italian RSV in fact overtook Kenny Noyes (Jack&Jones by Antonio Banderas) and Claudio Corti (Forward Racing) in the afternoon session, bringing himself very close to the time set by Elias.

The second rider of Team Gresini also did well, Ivanov set the 5th fastest time followed by the Tech3 of the Japanese Yuki Takahashi and Yonny Hernandez on the Blusens BQR. Good performance by Karel Abraham eighth and followed by Anthony West (MZ). Niccolò Canepa recovers positions and finishes tenth while we remember the forced absence of Roberto Rolfo, an absence due to the shoulder dislocation which occurred in the MontMelò tests.
