Alex De Angelis managed with a final effort to conquer pole position at Phillip Island with a time of 1'34.574. the San Marino rider of Team jiR immediately confirmed his feeling with the Australian circuit by being the fastest on the track also in the 3rd free practice session of the morning. The word is up to him.

“It was an unusual day but in the end it turned out to be a success. I've been going well all weekend, already yesterday we had found the ideal path for the set up and today's work confirmed this condition. The qualifying session was difficult from a time management point of view, but we hit the right moment to get back on track at the end of the session to try to take advantage of the last minutes and it went very well. I'm happy for the pole position but also because we have a good set-up, my MotoBI gives me excellent sensations with both the soft and hard tires and this leaves many options open for the race. The competition is very fierce, we know it, but this is my favorite track and given the state of form that the bike and I are in, we can and must aim very high."
