Moto2 Phillip Island, Free Practice 1: Lowes is the fastest
Lorenzo Baldassarri, eighth, is the best of the Italian drivers
Moto2 2015 Phillip Island Free Practice 1 – Sam Lowes, Speed Up rider, set the best time in the FP1 of the Australian Grand Prix, the sixteenth and third last stage of the 2015 world championship.
The British driver stopped the clock at a time of 1:33.658 in a session that started on wet asphalt and ended on dry ones.
Lowes preceded the Japanese Takaaki Nakagami, the German Jonas Folger, the Swiss Thomas Luthi and the Spanish Alex Rins.
Sixth time for Jonas Folger, seventh for the 2015 world champion Johann Zarco and eighth for the best of the Italian riders, Lorenzo Baldassarri, riding the Forward Racing Speed Up.
His team-mate Simone Corsi is tenth, while the returning Franco Morbidelli, recovering from a fracture of the tibia and fibula and who will race in Team Marc VDS next year, together with Alex Marquez (twelfth in these FP1s) is twentieth.
