Moto2 Phillip Island FP1: Nakagami stellar, Morbidelli 4th
Mattia Pasini was excellent with the second half, Simone Corsi also in the top ten
Australian GP Phillip Island Moto2 Free Practice 1 – Takaaki Nakagami wins the first free practice session on the Phillip Island circuit, where the Australian Grand Prix, the 16th stage of the 2017 MotoGP World Championship, will take place on Sunday.
The Japanese driver stopped the clock at 1:33.313, just half a second from the circuit record. Behind the Idemitsu Honda Asia team rider was an excellent Mattia Pasini (ItalTrans), just under 7 tenths behind.
Third time for Miguel Oliveira (KTM Ajo) who preceded the world championship leader, Franco Morbidelli (Marc VDS), and Dominique Aegerter.
Thomas Luthi, second in the world championship at -19, finished sixth followed by Simone Corsi (SpeedUp), Alex Marquez (Marc VDS) and Lorenzo Baldassarri (Forward). Fabio Quartararo completes the top ten.
Thirteenth time for Francesco Bagnaia (SKY Racing Team VR46), while his teammate, Stefano Manzi, stopped in 28th position.
Andrea Locatelli (ItalTrans), who crashed without consequences, finished in 23rd position, preceding Luca Marini (Forward), 27th.
