Moto2 Motegi, Warm Up: Iannone at the top
Just like the riders of the eighth-litre class, those of the Moto2 class also had to deal with weather that brought clouds and a temperature of 16° in the air and 21° on the asphalt. The fastest of the warm up was our Andrea Iannone, riding the Suter of Team Speed Master. The Abruzzo native who lapped in 1'52"268 preceded the Swiss Thomas Luthi, who returned here at great levels, and the British Bradley Smith, riding the Tech258, by 3 thousandths.
Fourth is Marc Marquez, who will attack the world leadership in the race, 6 points away. Given the warm up of the world championship leader Stefan Bradl, only eighth, it is a possible "overtaking". Between the Spaniard and the German we find the British Scott Redding, the Japanese from Team Gresini, Yuki Takahashi and the Colombian Yonny Hernandez. Closing out the Top Ten are the Spaniards Esteve Rabat and Pol Espargarò.
Immediately behind the HP Tuenti Speed Up driver we find our Mattia Pasini, Simone Corsi and Alex De Angelis. Jordi Torres' warm up was positive (replacing the injured Julian Simon aboard the Suter of Team Aspar), fourteenth and ahead of Aleix Espargarò and our Michele Pirro, on track with the second Moriwaki of Team Gresini. Raffele de Rosa instead finished in twenty-second position.
