The seventh place achieved by Alex in the Spanish GP is worth a moral victory. The San Marino driver was the protagonist of an incredible comeback which allowed him to close out a race conditioned by a ride through in the best possible way.

It was a small mistake at the start, Alex let the clutch slip out of his hands for a moment, the bike moved forward a little and the commission gave him a penalty for jump start. On the fourth lap the San Marino driver then served the ride through in the pits, returning to 32nd position. From here he began a very tight comeback which led him to gain twenty-five positions in fifteen laps. His determination and a practically perfect MotoBI allowed him to stabilize in seventh place and it is inevitable to wonder how it could have ended without the penalty. Beyond the conjectures, the satisfaction remains for a fantastic comeback and for having managed to establish an excellent feeling between bike and rider. In a hard-fought championship full of protagonists like this one, consistency is one of the fundamental weapons so the nine points brought home today are very important. Now that the Japanese GP has been postponed, the world circus will stop for a month and then move to Estoril where the third round of the season will take place on May 1st.

Alex De Angelis #15 (7th, 50'24.414): “I'm not very happy with the race but I can still be satisfied in many respects. The mistake on the grid was just an inconvenience, but it obviously influenced the whole race and I want to apologize to the team for this. I knew I would be penalized so I tried to wait as long as possible to spread out the group and try not to fall too far back. Then when I returned from the ride through I was quite late but I felt the bike was good, the guys in the team did an excellent job from the warm up to give me a truly competitive MotoBI, so much so that I managed to lap with very fast times without pushing too much, because I didn't want to risk another mistake. In the end, overtaking after overtaking I managed to climb up to 7th position. With hindsight I would say that with these lap times I could have challenged for the podium, but the season is still long. I am certainly happy with the work we have done both in recent days in the dry and today in the wet, we have a very high-performance vehicle with high margins.”
