He wants to amaze, but above all to grow. Andrea Locatelli he has learned from the mistakes made in the past, perhaps due to the desire to overdo it and is now taking advantage of this first phase of the championship to find the best feeling with his Italtrans-branded bike and then aim for the top positions. We interviewed him exclusively during At least Freestyle, the beautiful evening themed on music and motors which was held at Almenno San Salvatore, in the province of Bergamo.

Andrea, not an easy start to the season: did you expect something more from 2018?

“I expected something more already from last season. I thought I had found the right solution straight away, but then a bit of frenzy set in to achieve certain results in a really difficult category. This year it is important to get a result, but I wanted to put aside my pride, the desire to overdo it, to learn to work like the great champions do. I have a partner like Mattia Pasini who is very strong from that point of view and for me this is important. Now I work race by race to improve. We didn't start badly and we hope to grow to reach the top ten consistently."

I understand that this is an obligatory step in your journey.

“Yes, because fighting in the top ten means being competitive in a very difficult category, with many very strong riders. There are many top teams because the bikes have the same engine and we work on the details. It is very important to have a team with a lot of experience. I would also need a little more experience to overcome the difficult moments, but, I repeat, we are doing a good job."

The feeling you get from the outside is that you have grown a lot as a rider.

“I can manage situations better and working for the second year with the same team is an advantage. It feels like being at home and this allows you to perform at your best."
