Moto2 | Austrian GP Warm Up: Oettl surprises everyone
On a damp track the Tech3 team driver takes a risk with dry tyres, Baldassarri and Marini in the top ten
Moto2 GP Austria Red Bull Ring Warm Up – Philipp Oettl wins the wet Warm Up of the Moto2 class Austrian Grand Prix, eleventh stage of the 2019 MotoGP world championship.
The rain returned to the Red Bull Ring, but towards the end of the session conditions improved very quickly.
At the end of the 20 minutes Philipp Oettl recorded the best performance, stopping the clock at 1:32.760 using dry tires in the final minutes of the session. The Tech3 team rider took his KTM ahead of Jorge Navarro (Speed Up) and rookie Jorge Martin (AjO KTM).
Fourth time for Marcel Schrotter who finished ahead of Jonas Folger (Petronas) and Tom Luthi. Lorenzo Baldassarri (Flex Box hp 40) is the first of the Italians in seventh position and precedes Jake Dixon and Bo Bendsneyder. Luca Marini (Sky Racing Team VR46) Completes the top ten.
Out of the ten was Fabio Di Giannantonio (Speed Up) who finished 11th ahead of Stefano Manzi (Mv Agusta Forward), 13th and Nicolò Bulega (Sky Racing Team VR46), 15th.
Andrea Locatelli (ItalTrans) finished 16th, ahead of: Marco Bezzecchi (Tech3), 18th, Mattia Pasini (Petronas) 19th and Enea Bastianini (ItalTrans) 29th.
