Moto2: Franco Morbidelli will race with Team Italtrans

Franco Morbidelli, European Superstock 600 Champion, will race the next world championship riding a Team Italtrans Kalex. The nineteen-year-old rider who lives in Tavullia and is part of the VR46 Riders Academy will join the Spaniard Julian Simon. The agreement is for two years. In the photo we see him in action with Team Gresini's Moto2, when this year he replaced Thitipong Warokorn. Here's what he said.

“A dream come true. The middle class, which when I was a child was the 250, today the Moto2, I liked a lot, and that was where I wanted to get to. I also succeeded due to the concomitance of favorable factors, which contributed to bringing me there. The test carried out with Italtrans in the autumn played an important role; it could also have been an end in itself, but instead, due to the work and the harmony, it opened the doors to a good relationship with Luigi and the team. I thank them for believing in me. Just as I thank the VR46 Riders Academy, in its entirety, who worked hard to make this possibility come true. And also the Italian Federation, for what it has done and what it is still doing. I will enjoy this 2014 with a top-notch bike and team. I couldn't have hoped for better."

Team Manager Luigi Pansera also spoke then “We are very happy with the agreement reached: it is for two years (2014-2015), with an option for 2016. With Julian and Franco we have formed a couple where experience, energy, certainties and hopes make a nice mix. We will see them on the track together in February, in the first tests of the 2014 season. There is optimism."
