Moto2 Barcelona, Free Practice 3: Rins ahead of Zarco and Lowes
Morbidelli and Baldassarri set the fifth and sixth fastest times
GP of Catalunya Moto2 Free Practice 3 – Alex Rins achieved the best time of the third and final free practice session of the Moto2 class in Barcelona.
The riders took to the track with the accident that occurred in FP2 and which cost the life of Luis Salom, a Majorcan rider from Team SAG, still in their minds. Yesterday the decision was made to continue the racing weekend in memory of the unfortunate Spanish driver, who crashed at turn 12, a corner later modified with two chicanes to slow down the drivers.
Returning to FP3, as mentioned, the fastest was Rins who lapped in 1:49.579 and preceded the reigning champion Johann Zarco by just 22 thousandths.
Third time went to Team Gresini's Briton Sam Lowes, who brought his Kalex ahead of those of the Japanese Takaaki Nakagami and our Franco Morbidelli and Lorenzo Baldassarri.
Eleventh and twelfth times for the Roman Speed Up driver Simone Corsi and Luca Marini, brother of Valentino Rossi. Mattia Pasini finished with the nineteenth fastest time.
