Moto2 Aragon, Qualifying: Nico Terol takes pole position
On the front row with him Rabat and Espargarò, Corsi in sixth is the best of the Italians
Nico Terol, rider of Team Aspar, who celebrated his 25th birthday yesterday, achieved pole position in the Moto2 class in Aragon, the first in this category. The Spaniard brought his Suter #18 ahead of everyone with a time of 1:53.812, 172 thousandths better than that set by his compatriot Esteve Rabat, who in turn precedes team-mate Pol Espargarò.
The first row is therefore all Spanish, with the Japanese Takaaki Nakagami opening the second having achieved the fourth fastest time. The Team Italtrans rider who has a gap of just over second is ahead of Jordi Torres (Terol's teammate and winner at the Sachsenring) and our Simone Corsi, first of the Italian riders.
The Roman rider of Team NGM Mobile Forward Racing managed to put his Speed Up ahead of Julian Simon's Kalex and team-mate Alex de Angelis, eighth, 822 thousandths from pole.
Closing out the Top Ten are the 2012 Moto3 champion Sandro Cortese and the Frenchman from the Came Iodaracing Team, Johann Zarco, riding a Suter. Mattia Pasini instead ended qualifying with the twelfth time, immediately behind Thomas Luthi, but ahead of world championship leader Scott Redding, who has just returned from an operation on his right forearm, carried out immediately after the Misano race. Let's remember that the Briton has a 23 point lead over Pol Espargarò.
