Moto2 GP Portugal Race – Pedro Acosta won the Portuguese Grand Prix in the Moto2 class, the opening race of the 2023 MotoGP world championship.

The Team Red Bull Ajo driver dominated the race, keeping his rivals at bay, in particular Aron Canet (Pons), who came second at the finish line behind his compatriot.

Our Tony Arbolino (Marc VDS) also gets on the podium, third after starting from eighth place. For Arbolino it is the fourth podium in the last five races (also considering last season, ed.), while for Acosta it is the fourth success in Moto2, tenth in his career.

Fourth at the finish line was pole man Filip Salac (Gresini), who after a good start was unable to keep up with the leaders, but still got the better of Manuel Gonzalez (VR46 MasterCamp), Jake Dixon (Aspar) and Sam Lowes (Marc VDS).

Closing out the Top Ten are Albert Arenas (Red Bull Ajo), Somkiat Chantra (Team Asia), and Jeremy Alcoba (Gresini). Celestino Vietti had a good race who, despite a double long-lap penalty (inflicted in the last race of last season), finished 11th.

The Fantic Racing driver finished ahead of Barry Baltus (Racing GP), Fermin Aldeguer (SpeedUp) and Joe Roberts (Italtrans). Sergio Garcia (Pons) also scored points.

Category rookie Dennis Foggia (Italtrans) finished 18th, ahead of compatriot Lorenzo Dalla Porta (SAG).

The 3 Moto2022 World Champion Izan Guevara is absent, who will also miss the Argentine Grand Prix due to injury.
