Moto2 | GP India Test 1: Chantra in the lead, Arbolino is sixth

Moto2 GP India Tests 1 – Somkiat Chantra achieved the best time in the first practice session of the Indian Grand Prix, 13th stage of the Moto2 class, scheduled at the Buddh International Circuit.

The session was immediately characterized by a red flag caused by a double crash by Sergio Garcia and Celestino Vietti, with the riders unharmed and crashing in two different corners.

Once restarted, the riders "studied" the new track and in the end the fastest (with new tyres, ed.) was the Thai Somkiat Chantra, who set the best performance with a time of 1:52.596.

Behind the Team Asia rider we find the championship leader Pedro Acosta, 0.282s behind, in turn ahead of the other Team Asia rider, the Japanese Ai Ogura.

Jake Dixon (Aspar) is fourth ahead of Filip Salac (Gresini) and Tony Arbolino (Marc VDS). The rider from Garbagnate Milanese started better than in the last GPs and will try to keep up with Acosta to snag some points in the Championship.

The #14 of Team Marc VDS is followed by Manuel Gonzalez (VR46 MasterCamp) and the Team Italtrans duo of Joe Roberts and Dennis Foggia. This last category rookie started very well compared to his standard, even if the delay is more than second. He closes the Top Ten Sam Lowes (Marc VDS).

Lukas Tulovic (Intact GP), Marcos Ramirez (OnlyFans American Racing), Izan Guevara (Aspar) and Alonso Lopez (SpeedUp) also qualified for the provisional Q2.

Alberto Surra (Forward) finished 22nd, while Vietti who, as mentioned, crashed at the beginning of the session, finished 25th.
