Moto2 | Gp Mugello FP1: Dixon at the top, Pasini is 11th
Seventh and eighth times for Niccolò Antonelli and Celestino Vietti
Moto2 Italian GP Mugello Free Practice 1 – Jake Dixon was the fastest in the first free practice session of the Moto2 class Italian Grand Prix at Mugello, eighth stage of the 2022 MotoGP.
The Team GasGas Aspar driver posted the best performance with a time of 1:51.966, ahead of Augusto Fernandez (Red Bull Ajo) by 0.316s and Aron Canet (Pons) by 0.380s.
Fourth time for the 2021 world champion of the Moto3 class Pedro Acosta (Red Bull Ajo), followed by Filip Salac (Gresini), Sam Lowes (Marc VDS) and a revived Niccolò Antonelli (Mooney VR46 Racing Team), who in his first season in Moto2 he set the seventh time, 0.689s from the top.
Antonelli is followed by team-mate and world championship leader Celestino Vietti, Somkiat Chantra (Team Asia) and Alonso Lopez (Speed Up) who closes the Top Ten.
Excellent result for Mattia Pasini, who left the role of commentator and returned to the saddle, is 11th with the GasGas of Team Aspar less than a second from the top, exactly 0.984s.
Pasini on track with the #11 preceded Ai Ogura (Team Asia), Joe Roberts (Italtrans), Gabriel Rodrigo (SAG) and compatriot Tony Arbolino (Marc VDS).
The other Italians are: Lorenzo Dalla Porta (Italtrans) 23rd, Simone Corsi (MV Agusta Forward) 26th and Alessandro Zaccone (Gresini) 29th.
