Moto2 | GP Barcelona FP1: Canet in command, Vietti 11th
The Team Pons driver preceded Fernandez and Dixon
Moto2 GP Catalunya Free Practice 1 – Aron Canet was the fastest in the first free practice session of the Moto2 class Catalan Grand Prix, ninth stage of the 2022 MotoGP championship scheduled at Montmelò in Barcelona.
The Team Pons driver, who posted the best performance with a time of 1:44.450, preceded Augusto Fernandez (Red Bull Ajo) by just 24 thousandths and Jake Dixon (Aspar) by 79 thousandths.
Fourth and fifth times for Sam Lowes (Marc VDS) and Bo Bendsneyder (SAG), followed by Albert Arenas (Aspar), Marcel Schrotter (Intact GP) and the winner of the Italian Grand Prix at Mugello, the rookie and 2021 world champion of Moto3, Pedro Acosta (Red Bull Ajo).
Closing out the Top Ten are Alonso Lopez with the Speed Up and Ai Ogura, first in the standings on equal points with Celestino Vietti (Mooney VR46 Racing Team), 11th in FP1.
Joe Roberts and Lorenzo Dalla Porta, Italtrans riders, occupy the 12th and 13th position, ahead of Filip Salac (Gresini).
Tony Arbolino (Marc VS) is 15th, while Stefano Manzi (VR46 Master Camp) is 22nd. The other Italians are: Alessandro Zaccone (Gresini) 23rd, Niccolò Antonelli (Mooney VR46 Racing Team) 26th and Simone Corsi (MV Agusta Forward) 27th.
