Many crashes including Marquez and Baldassarri
Moto2 Dutch GP Race – Augusto Fernandez wins the Moto2 class Dutch Grand Prix, eighth stage of the 2019 MotoGP. First career victory for the Spanish rider.
Binder starts well from the front row. At the first corner he manages to take the lead ahead of Vierge and the poleman Gardner.
The South African rider immediately began to dictate the pace but Gardner first overtook Vierge and then launched himself in pursuit of the KTM. However, due to an error, the Australian loses 4 positions and is forced to make a comeback. Meanwhile Bulega was forced to retire after a contact.
With twenty laps to go Lowes breaks the deadlock and begins to battle for the victory, also allowing the other pursuers to close the gap.
With 12 laps to go, yet another twist in a race full of overtaking and counter-overtaking, with Gardner crashing while fighting for the top positions. Shortly afterwards Navarro and Lowes also fall, with the latter touched by Martin.
A few steps later the pursuers begin to press Binder who, despite being in the lead, seems to be having some difficulties. The continuous attempts to overtake him by first Fernandez and then Luthi are unsuccessful. The continuous attempts allow the KTM rider to stay in front and his pursuers to battle for the podium positions.
With six laps to go it's Marquez's turn to try to overtake Binder, but the KTM rider responds immediately. With 5 laps to go, yet another twist, Vierge slips and involves Bastianini in the fall, fortunately all the riders unharmed.
In the meantime, the fight for the victory heats up with Marquez taking the lead with Baldassarri and Fernandez in his wake, Binder is relegated to fourth position, but he doesn't give up.
With two laps to go, Baldassarri and Marquez's race ends, with the two touching and ending up on the ground.
