Yamaha is working on the Moto3 project
Moto3, the category that will replace the current eighth of a liter from next year, could have one more manufacturer. Yamaha is in fact developing a project for both the engine derived from the YZ250F motocross bike and a complete motorcycle. At the moment Honda and KTM are already at a good point with the development of their projects and then there are other manufacturers such as Ioda Racing and ADV. We remind you that the regulation provides for the new category 4-stroke 250cc engines with a cylinder with a maximum diameter of 81mm. Here are the words of Yamaha Boss Masao Furusawa as reported by MCN.
“From a cost saving point of view we would like to forget Moto3, but in terms of rider development we need to do something, so we are doing something for this new category. We are preparing an engine and also a complete bike, we haven't hit the track yet but we are doing a lot of computer simulations for the engine and the chassis.”
