Mick Doohan's point of view on the Assen race....

The Assen track is amazing because even if it rains it offers
considerable adhesion. I don't think anyone hoped for rain anyway,
not even in this case. However the weather was as good as it gets
reasonably expected from this area, it has already happened in three
or four races recently. On this occasion the rain came
on the reconnaissance lap and luckily the pilots were able to return and restart.

Sete Gibernau had a great race – you can't really blame him
Nothing. To be honest, in the dry it didn't seem like he could compete,
but with the rain everything changed. I think Valentino Rossi raced
a somewhat cautious race – probably thinking about the championship. Not
I want to say that he intends to maintain the primacy in this way, but
he certainly doesn't want to throw everything away. In fact, no one is at the moment
in contention for the title besides him and Valentino doesn't want to let him get closer
the others throwing themselves to the ground.

Once Max Biaggi has built an advantage over Rossi it is
was more than happy with second place.

I don't think he wanted to risk it either – not after the two-week fall
does. Other than that, sorry about Troy Bayliss' silly mistake, because
once again, finding the rhythm, it was going great.

Overall it was an exciting race: it's true that in the end
everyone held their positions and it got a little boring
but at this point in the season every race is different and interesting
in his own way.
