The comments of Battaini, Melandri and Rolfo at the end of Saturday's official sessions in Jerez

Franco Battaini:

“Yesterday I wasn't in very good shape with the tyres.

We worked well with the team and so it was possible to find the right set-up.

Today, to get pole position, I used the tire that I will use tomorrow in the race, so it's going great.

Tomorrow I will also have to think about defending first place in the world championship, but above all I must try to stay relaxed and keep my mind clear to concentrate on the race."

Marco Melandri:

“Third position is fine for me anyway.

Tomorrow I don't think I'll be able to leave right away;

I hope I can stay with the group and compete for it in the end.

I hope everything goes well."

Roberto Rolfo:

“I'm quite satisfied with my placing.

Yesterday I had some problems, but today the mechanics did a good job and I think we found the right set-up for the race.

I don't know how tomorrow will go; I can only say that I expect a big fight from the 1st lap.

In the last laps of today's practice I tried to run with a different front tyre, but the choice didn't particularly favor me.

Now I wait for tomorrow.

I'm convinced I can have a good race."
