This weekend the San Marino and Riviera di Rimini Grand Prix, the thirteenth stage of the 2017 MotoGP World Championship, is scheduled to take place in Misano.

Today, in the conference room, Aprilia celebrated the 30th anniversary of the first victory of Loris Reggiani, who crossed the finish line in Misano ahead of his compatriot and rival Luca Cadalora (Yamaha) and the Spaniard Sito Pons (Honda), giving the first victory at the Noale house.

It wasn't yet Jan Witteveen's Aprilia, but there was always the "hand" of a Dutchwoman, who brought the Rotax-engined bike to the track. Among other things, precisely on that occasion, the Venetian company brought a first "draft" of what is now telemetry onto the track for the first time on motorbikes (in tests).

A success that started a winning sporting history, to date 54 world titles in the various disciplines, 38 of which in the MotoGP with 294 GPs won.

We remind you that to date, Aprilia is present in force in MotoGP with riders Aleix Espargarò and Sam Lowes, with the latter who will be replaced by Scott Redding next year.

“As FMI we are proud to celebrate this anniversary, the first world championship triumph of Aprilia, moreover conquered by an Italian rider, Loris Reggiani and precisely in Misano – he said Giovanni Copioli, President of FMI – Italian Motorcycle Federation – In this way we wanted to pay a fitting tribute to an Italian manufacturer which, starting from that triumph, gave us many victories, winning an impressive number of titles and bringing Italian motorcycling to the top. I am sure that Aprilia will continue its winning tradition as soon as possible given its commitment and growth in the premier class."

“Looking at Aprilia's first victory today means retracing an extraordinary, and entirely Italian, history of successes. That fantastic affirmation by Loris Reggiani was the first step in a chain made up of 294 victories and 38 titles in the MotoGP world championship, to which must be added 7 World Championships in Superbike and the successes in off road - Romano Albesiano, Aprilia Racing Manager – Today Aprilia Racing represents the most technologically advanced point of the Piaggio Group with the aim, on the track, of achieving in the top category those successes that are missing from its exceptional list of successes, while continuing to train technicians and extraordinary skills, continuing the journey that has begun thirty years ago.”
