If Julian Simon was the star of the 125cc class tests in Jerez de la Frontera, the same thing can be said for his compatriot Alvaro Bautista who also closed the three-day test reserved for the quarter-litre with the new track record Spanish. The standard bearer of Team Aspar in fact stopped the clock at a time of 1.43.488, thus managing to beat the 1.43.546 belonging to the reigning champion Marco Simoncelli. Bautista completed 53 laps, placing his new teammate Mike Di Meglio, 2008 world champion in the 125cc class, by more than half a second.

The French ex-Derbi preceded Hiroshi Aoyama's Team Scot Honda who returned to the Japanese manufacturer after abandoning KTM. Aoyama precedes the Hungarian Gabor Talmacsi on the Aprilia of Team Balatonring and the Swiss Thomas Luthi. With the sixth time we find the Honda of Rattapark Wilairot who is followed by the Czech Lukas Pesek, our Raffaele De Rosa and Hector Faubel.
