Nico Terol, rider of Team Aspar and new world champion in the 125cc class, is a Spanish rider born in Alcoy on 27 September 1988. His first race took place in 1999 in the FĂłrmula Airtel minibikes in Almenara, while he made his debut in the 125 class of the world championship in 2004 in the Grand Prix of the Valencian Community, as a substitute for Mike Di Meglio.

In 2005 he made his permanent debut in the world championship riding the Derbi of Team Caja Madrid, finishing the season in 36th place with one point (he however missed the GPs of Japan, Malaysia and Qatar due to injury). The following year, still in the same team, he finished the season in 14th place with 53 points, recording two seventh places as his best finishes, one in Germany and the other in the Czech Republic.

In 2007 he finished the championship in 22nd position (again riding the Derbi) while in 2008 he took his first victory in the world championship riding the Aprilia of Team Jack & Jones. He wins in Indianapolis, also collecting two second places (Spain and the Valencian Community) and two third places (Portugal and France). He ends the season in 5th place with 176 points. 2009 gave him another victory, in Brno, in the Czech Republic and three second places in the Italian, Catalunya and San Marino GPs and his season ended with 3rd place.

In 2010 the big opportunity arrived, in fact he was riding the Aprilia of Team Aspar, one of the best equipped teams in the entire world championship. He wins three races (Qatar, Czech Republic and Indianapolis), obtains eight second places in Spain, France, Italy, Holland, San Marino, Aragon, Japan and Portugal, three third places in Malaysia, Australia, the Valencian Community and a pole in France finishing the season as vice-world champion behind compatriot Marc Marquez.

Then comes 2011, the year of consecration which also coincides with the last one for the current eighth liters which will be replaced by Moto3 next year. Terol wins eight races (Qatar, Spain, Portugal, Catalunya, Italy, Indianapolis, Misano and Aragon), obtains seven pole positions (Qatar, Portugal, France, Catalunya, Czech Republic, Indianapolis, Malaysia), 5 fastest laps (Qatar, Portugal , France, Indianapolis (with record) and GP Malaysia) and wins the 125cc title in Valencia, in the Grand Prix of the Valencian Community. In total in the world championship he achieved:
