The 125 class riders faced the warm up of the Japanese Grand Prix in Motegi with 15° in the air and 20 on the asphalt. In these weather conditions, the fastest on the track was world leader Nico Terol who stopped the clock at a time of 1'59"365. The Team Aspar driver preceded Maverick Vinales, driver of Team Blusens by Paris Hilton Racing by 150 thousandths and the poleman Johann Zarco on Derbi by 211 thousandths.

First of the Italian riders is Luigi Morciano, sixteenth with the Aprilia of Team Italia FMI. Further back his teammate Alessandro Tonucci is twenty-second, while Luca Fabrizio (Michel's brother, Suzuki Superbike rider) who here replaces the Neapolitan Francesco Mauriello aboard the WTR-Ten10 Racing Aprilia is thirty-fourth.
