125cc – Estoril Free practice 2 – Test of strength by Nico Terol
The winner of the first two races of the 2011 125cc world championship, Nico Terol, continues to take things seriously. After dominating the first free practice sessions of the Portuguese Grand Prix (third stage of the 2011 world championship), the Team Bankia Aspar rider was also the fastest in the second session in Estoril. The Spaniard inflicted heavy gaps on his competition by seven tenths of a second ahead of the runner-up in the time list. Terol who lapped in 1'46"385 preceded the German Sandro Cortese and the Frenchman from Derbi Johan Zarco. The latter has a gap greater than the second (+ 1 ″ 064) and behind him we find Hector Faubel and Miguel Oliveira.
From the Portuguese onwards the gaps begin to become really heavy with Alberto Moncayo (Andalucia Banca Civica) almost two seconds behind the leader as well as Jonas Folger and Danny Kent. However, the gap was more than two seconds starting from the ninth position occupied by Luis Salom; the Spaniard who races on an RW Racing GP Aprilia is in fact 2"022 behind and precedes Adrian Martin, Maverick Vinales and Efren Vazquez.
First of the Italians is Simone Grotzkyj with the fourteenth time while Luigi Morciano is nineteenth on the Aprilia of Team Italia FMI. His team-mate Alessandro Tonucci is twenty-fifth while the Neapolitan Francesco Mauriello riding the WTR-Ten10 Racing Aprilia is thirtieth.
