Marc Marquez, current leader of the world championship standings as well as nine-time winner in 2010 (he equaled Aspar Martinez's record) only needs two second places to become the 2010 World Champion in the eighth-litre class. The Red Bull Ajo Motorsport driver has his "destiny" in his hands after his overwhelming victory at Phillip Island. The Spaniard is in fact 12 points ahead of Nico Terol and 17 over Pol Espargarò.

For a series of combinations he could already become Champion in Estoril, to make this happen he would have to win and hope that Terol and Espargarò do not do better than a fifth and an eighth place respectively.

Here are Marquez's words at the end of the Australian GP.
“It was a very complicated and very difficult weekend because every time we went out on the track the conditions changed a lot and this made it difficult to find a good set-up and gain confidence with the bike. In the end we had a good weekend, especially in the race, a very good result for the championship and for the team. It was an important victory, but at the same time we have to stay focused for the last two Grands Prix. There will be two very important races, the two most important of my life so far, and we will keep the same mentality.”
